Enhancing Fleet Security and Efficiency: Torfaen Council Chooses Maple’s DriveLock

The Project

An unattended idling vehicle poses a risk to the public, as well as personnel, with the possibility of injury if the vehicle is tampered with or moves accidentally. All employers have a duty of care to ensure vehicles used for work are secure and compliant with relevant safety regulations.

Torfaen County Borough Council are a proactive authority, who quickly identified areas of potential risk across its fleet of waste collection vehicles and Daf trucks. They wanted to put in place measures to prevent the unauthorised or accidental movement of unattended vehicles and were particularly impressed by the passive arming capabilities of Maple’s DriveLock, automated driver recognition system.

The Result

Jill Parrish, Senior Transport Officer – Fleet, Torfaen County Borough Council explains, “We have found the Drivelock system to be extremely easy to use and very effective. Drivers feedback has been nothing but positive as the system does not hinder their daily duties in any way and provides them with the level of security required to exit the cab and operate any ancillary equipment.

Installation of the system has been seamless and only positive feedback can be given on the project implementation from start to finish.”
