Express Logistics of Heathrow London are a logistics company with a difference. Well that’s according to Mark Priestly the Managing director and we at Maple Fleet Services would tend to agree. Leading by technology, Express Logistics are not a company to shy away from being an ‘early adopter’ in terms of vehicle security and safety products. In fact their latest fleet of logistics vehicles from Mercedes are not only the most up to date Sprinters available, but they also bristle with the very latest after market security & safety products from Maple Fleet Services. “I think we have developed the most secure vehicle of its type on the market to date” commented Mark Priestly, Managing Director of Express Logistics. “The challenge I gave to Maple Fleet Services was to create for my company a fleet of market leading security driven vehicles. Maple has met this challenge head on, allowing my company to offer the type of vehicle security normally the reserve of the armoured car companies, at a fraction of the cost. This I can pass onto my customers while significantly raising the standard of security they are being offered to transport their goods.” The Sprinters, now being fully operated by Express Logistics, have a range of security enhancements; A fully integrated camera system – to record the vehicle during deliveries and to provide a driver aid via the monitor screen. The locks that secure the load area are RFID controlled and have full access control technology designed into them. This restricts access to only designated users, if required the vehicle can be sealed secure at the point of despatch, with only the end customer / customs authority being given the means to access the load area en-route. The technology built into the locking system also records all door events for auditing purposes. “As the vehicle also has a tracking product built into it, we are also able to offer Express Logistics full zone locking as our locks talk to the tracking device. This means that you can enable our bespoke access control technology remotely only when the vehicle arrives at a specific destination or manually online via the vehicles tracking software. This is truly intelligent locking” Commented Jonathan Richards Marketing Manager at Maple Fleet Services. This is only a brief taste of what the vehicle has been fitted with to prevent unauthorised access and to monitor when and where the freight in transit is being accessed.
