You don’t have to operate your Refuse vehicles illegally - That’s the simple message from Maple Fleet Services to all the UK’s councils and private waste collection companies.

Drivelock, a tried and tested solution, was re-launched at the CV Show in April in a bid to help operators improve vehicle safety and adhere to the Road Regulations Act of 1988. The Drivelock system allows a vehicle to be left unattended with the engine running and the keys left in the ignition. Any unauthorised attempt to move or start the vehicle, immediately locks the handbrake, sounds an alarm and cuts the engine. “This means commercial waste collection providers can still maintain their economic viability and operate their fleet legally” commented Jonathan Richards Group Marketing Manager.

After being well-received at the CV Show and subsequently at the CIWM in Torbay, Drivelock is now being installed by councils and private waste companies up and down the country as they see the benefits of utilising the driver recognition system. Maple Fleet Services, Sales Account Manager, Paul Youles added, “We’re delighted that Drivelock is taking off again (after originally being introduced back in the 1990’s) it is a product we have always had a lot of faith in, it offers enormous benefit to a wide range of vehicle fleets and we’re not surprised that this cost-effective solution is again finding favour with operators.”
