Traditionally there are two means of control used. Sealing products, by definition, control access to the doors of the asset during transit, providing evidence of tamper. A low level of security, these devices are reliant on tight control of procedures within an organisation to operate them correctly and record sealing numbers.
Locking products by definition, due to their physical nature, secure the doors of the asset during transit and deter thefts both from inside and outside of your organisation. |
Traditional sealing and locking solutions that either utilise plastic or metal ties, single dimension locking (padlocks and keys) or that are based on barricading goods into a secure area with the intent of providing a deterrent to would be thieves are no longer sufficient in their modus operandi.
The tools for increasing security and control are not enough in isolation, every person within the logistics process from provider, supplier and to customer must be held accountable for their time and actions while in a secured and controlled environment. |
Accountability plays a vital role
in a truly effective cargo security program. Electronic access control
for mobile assets provides the
answer to the needs of control, security and accountability for
all involved within the logistics process. |
